Dear Friend,
Not only do the arts enrich our lives, but research has shown that studying the arts can help students master other subjects, such as reading, math and social studies. Through BrightLights Education here at Richmond CenterStage, we are working with schools throughout the Greater Richmond region to provide meaningful arts-based learning experiences.
$50
Provides one hour of in-class instruction by a teaching artist from one of our partner organizations such as SPARC, Richmond Shakespeare, Richmond Symphony or Elegba Folklore Society.
$250
Allows teachers to attend an interactive workshop, led by local artists, on how to use the arts in the classroom.
$500
Provides books and backpacks for nearly 125 FIELD Arts students to promote literacy and at-home reading experiences with children and their parents.
$2,500
Provides for an artist residency at three schools for partnerships such as SPEAK and Jazz 21. This results in over 40 hours of classroom instruction, provided by VCU Jazz artists.
At a time when many local school systems are faced with budget challenges that extend far beyond the arts, it is important to us to be able to offer these programs to schools at no cost. With your support, we can continue to do so, reaching new teachers and children across our region.
Please show your support and make your gift today by contributing today.
We thank you and our students thank you!
Kindest regards,
Richard M. Parison, Jr.
