On Saturday, September 12, Richmond CenterStage opened its doors to the Richmond community and raised the curtain on serious fun! For the first time in history, the presenting resident companies of Richmond CenterStage gathered on the Carpenter Theatre stage for an unforgettable evening of dance, music, theater and song: African American Repertory Theatre, Barksdale Theatre & Theatre IV (with special guest the Latin Ballet of Virginia), Elegba Folklore Society, Richmond Ballet, Richmond Jazz Society, Richmond Shakespeare, Richmond Symphony, SPARC and Virginia Opera.
Built by and for the community, the Richmond CenterStage performing arts complex has something for everyone and is a proud host to entertainment from the corner and around the world. With a mission to provide an inspiring environment where the arts will flourish and audiences will be dazzled, CenterStage welcomes the region’s most talented and exciting performing arts groups, as well as Broadway, concerts, comedians and theater on the Carpenter Theatre stage, and in new venues Gottwald Playhouse, Rhythm Hall and Showcase Gallery.
Learning in and through the arts, living in and through the arts – that’s what Richmond CenterStage is here to do. Join us downtown for serious fun!
